Post Modernism Exhibition at V&A

I went last thursday to see the Post-modernism exhibition at V&A. I have to write an essay about modernism so I thought it may be helpful. I couldn't take any picture because it's not allow. But I'll try to find in internet some of the works I liked.

Postmodernism was marked by a sense of loss even destructiveness but so a radical expansion of possibilities.

"Grace Jones shows the artificial transformation into a synthetic creation. She worked with Jean Paul Goude to fashion herself into newly subversive kind of celebrity."
V&A texts

Buffalo Stance - Neneh Cherry

"Music Videos were vital on broadcasting postmodernism ideas to mainstream culture."
V&A texts

Levis Strauss dress 1984 Cinzia Ruggeri

Stacked donut tea pot 1982 Peter Shire.
I found lots of different and funny designs of teapot, I could see in that examples what postmodernism is, take something traditional and make it new.

"Vivid colours, threatricality, exaggeration everything was a style statement, surfaces glossy, faked distressed, desire to combine subversive statements with commercial appeal."

Peckham Earrings

BA project, typographic landscape

I saw some women wearing big earrings, so I thought, OK thats an idea for my project.
I already had some interest about jewellery so I was happy about the idea "Earrings typeface"
After that, I found a shop with a really uniques designs, kind of letterforms, so that was my project, 26 earrings, 26 letters.

Motivated

After this gap year I decided something, don't ever waste time.
My aim of this year was to get into university, and I got it.
I'm starting in one week my BA Graphics, I can't be more excited!
One of my aims of this year is to learn as much as I can, and do my best!
This is the starting point in my career.

By the way, I wanted to show a bit of what I'm doing in this weeks,
I'm coming back to my past where I used to do jewellery making, earrings, necklaces, bracelets..
I still have my boxes full of beads, chains, and fimo!
So I decided to start again with it.

First earrings I make since long time ago

Things I make

When I was a kid I used to make plasticine dolls and play with them. My father bought me a glue gun to make carton houses for my dolls. I had a kind of city with even hairdressers or "surgeons" that will fix any aesthetic problem they had.

Now I decided to start again with my 3D things and this is what I've got, the recreation of Twiggy, Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson. This is the result of patience and observation!
